One small action can make a HUGE difference!

Spread the love

Another trip north to see my very good pals Tim and Lisa. They feel more like my family than friends and I need scant excuse to make time for a trip up here.

They run two pizzerias in Aviemore and Inverness (Cheese & Tomatin)

Whilst I’m up here, it’s always lovely to see another  mate’s daughter doing really well. Why? Because she’s from Coniston in Cumbria. And the friend in question, I used to work with when I was doing building work a couple of years ago. One cold day, packing a load of slate onto a trailer, we were sat in the pick up, just generally, having a bit of a moan! Me with my troubles of the world. Him with his

He spoke of the frustration of his 18 year old daughter wanting to work in Aviemore, where his sister, his daughters auntie, lived. But the problem was, she would need a job and somwhere to stay.

“I can sort that for you. One phone call”. He looked at me with disbelieving eyes.

Picking up the phone I asked “Tim. Are you still needing help in the pizzeria in Aviemore?”   YES. “Is the room above it still available?” YES.

18 months on, she lives and works here and is in a relationship with Tim’s eldest son. They are building their own home on some land, planning a future. Have travelled all over Europe together and are very happy.  Tim sees his son happy and stable, has a girl very competent and confident in her job and my Cumbrian chum is super proud of how is daughter is doing

ONE phone call! That’s all it took.

Just like the tiny acorn can become an enormous, strong, deep rooted oak tree, never underestimate the difference and impact you can make in someones life. Not to mention the knock on effect the ripple that a tiny pebble thrown into a lake can have.

Where possible, help one another, support and encourage people. Show appreciation and do something that is of absolutelty NO benefit to your own self, but for that person and others around them, could make a massive, life changing effect.

What have you done or could you do today, that could make a huge positive shift for someone? Let me know in the comments below, if love to hear about it.

That’s my 12 minutes today.
